Activities and Achievements
|
|
Through cooperation with the Pennsylvania Game Commission, the PFHT has been instrumental in achieving the following:
- The adoption by Pennsylvania of the Federal Falconry and Raptor Propagation Regulations.
- The establishment of an extended falconry season for small game and waterfowl in Pennsylvania.
- The easing of restrictions on the importation and possession of captive bred falcons, Harris Hawks, and other raptors
- The creation of a short-term, non-resident small game license at a reduced cost which benefits non-resident gun hunters as well as falconers.
- Recent revision of our state falconry exam, to provide a more comprehensive exam.
- Aid in trapping Peregrine Falcons for PAGC satellite program
- Falconers aid the State Department of Health in collection of Hibboboscid Flies for study regarding the West Nile Virus.
