A set of percussion samples is provided. At launch it includes the full kit, kick, snare, clap, stick and rimshot. The samples are provided in a 3rd party format (vst) and are made to work with any DAW but ElementP is designed to be workflow friendly and the buttons are laid out in a way that you can create your own sounds with minimum effort. ElementP also comes with a User Guide with detailed instructions on how to work with the synth.
ElementP provides three different percussive engines.
The kick engine is designed to produce a well rounded kick with a standard “snare snap” to give you the power to create a wide range of kicks.
The snare engine is designed to produce a very well rounded snare with different layers (compressors, shimmer, detune).
The rimshot engine is designed to produce a very well rounded rimshot. The rimshot has a very rich character with a subtle attack and decay.
A few tips to help you become an experienced percussionist:
Hold the attack of the sound (a 3.5 ms or so) to make it last longer
Applying the attack and decay slowly will result in a great sound.
Try to avoid releasing the sound too soon after you create it, you will get a better sound if you let the sample sound as long as it can.
The full kit is designed to have a normal snares sound and you have the option of setting a ratio between the sound with the snares and the sound with the claps. With this feature you can get any sound between the two.
The clap is made to be round in the beginning but to make it sound more open in the middle. This makes it possible to get any sound between the snare and the clap.
The rimshot sample is round on the beginning and the middle but is sharper in the end. This makes it possible to get a wide range of sounds between the sound and the rimshot.
To avoid losing time with creating sounds that you don’t like you can choose from a preset sound list that includes all the sounds in the full kit and rimshot engine. Just click the play button and audition the sounds to find the one that sounds best to your taste.
